Who is wrestling for?
We strive to provide a safe, inclusive environment where every person, regardless of skill level, gender, race, ethnic background, religious beliefs, sexual preferences or physical abilities will be accepted and appreciated. Wrestling is fun, but it is also a difficult sport; any person willing to come to practice and do the work will earn, and be shown, the proper respect. We are excited to welcome all to our community.

Is wrestling worth it?
There are a lot of activities your kid could be doing, so why would you bother with wrestling? Here's a few reasons we think your child can benefit from wrestling:

Coach Geoff has been a part of the PTYW organization for five seasons. Before joining PTYW, he served as a Junior High Assistant Coach at Burrell. He and his wife have three children—two who are currently in the PTYW program and one who recently graduated from it.
If you ask Coach Geoff why he’s so passionate about the sport, he’ll tell you, “Every kid should wrestle! Wrestling is the one sport that prepares you for every other sport.” In addition to wrestling, he also coaches PT Youth Football.
Coach Geoff was a three-year starter and two-time All-Conference selection in football at Bethany College (WV), where he credits wrestling for much of his success. “I was definitely a better wrestler than I was a football player,” he says, “but wrestling made me a pretty darn good football player.”

Mark developed a love for wrestling when his son joined the program in first grade. Though not a wrestler himself, he has enjoyed learning the sport over the past several years and now contributes both as a board member and as a coach. Mark values the opportunity to learn alongside the athletes, and each season further strengthens his appreciation and passion for the sport.
